明定陵，位于北京昌平区，北倚大峪山，面对山峰浑圆的蟒山。地面建筑的总布局，呈前方后圆形，含有中国古代哲学观念"天圆地方"的象征意义。定陵于万历十二年(1584年)动工，历时6年完成，共耗用白银八百万两。陵墓建成时皇帝只有28岁，直到1620年才正式启用，该陵墓整整闲置达30年之久。<br><br>

定陵成为十三陵中最大的三座陵园之一。它的地面建筑共占18万平方米，前有宽阔院落三进，后有高大宝城一座。陵正门前方是三卒汉白玉石桥。过了桥是高大的碑亭。亭周围有祠祭署、宰牲亭、定陵监等建筑物300多间。再往后就是陵园最外面的围墙—外罗城（围墙外的围墙）1958年，在夏鼐亲自指导下进行的明定陵发掘，历时两年多顺利结束。<br><br>

定陵是新中国第一座经国务院批准，有计划、有组织、主动发掘的帝王陵墓，出土了大量珍贵的丝织品、玉器、金器等文物。然而，由于技术水平落后，无数奇珍异宝无法保存，发掘的丝织品变硬腐化，三口金丝楠木精制而成的巨大红漆棺椁以及万历帝后的尸骨也在“文革”前后被红卫兵和革命干部遗弃及毁坏。<br><br>

明神宗显皇帝朱翊钧和两位皇后；明穆宗朱载垕的第三子。嘉靖四十二年(公元1563年)八月十七日生，隆庆二年(公元1568年)三月十一日立为皇太子，隆庆六年六月十日即位，次年改元万历。万历四十八年(公元1620年)七月二十一日驾崩，享年58岁。九月上尊谥为"范天合道哲肃敦简光文章武安仁止孝显皇帝"，十月三日葬定陵，庙号"神宗"。明神宗是明朝享国最久的帝王。<br><br>

孝端显皇后王氏；神宗元配，浙江余姚人，永年伯王伟之女，生于京师。万历六年(公元1578年)二月册立为皇后。王氏性格宽厚温和，对神宗生母孝定皇太后侍奉特别用心;对光宗朱常洛也很爱护，调护备至。而对万历帝的宠妃郑氏的争宠，她也从不计较。所以，《明史·后妃传》中称其"性端谨"，"正位中宫者四十二年，以慈孝称"。孝端皇后万历四十八年四月病故，谥孝端。万历四十八年八月光宗朱常洛继位，上尊谥为"孝端贞恪庄惠仁明媲天毓圣显皇后"。十月三日葬于定陵。<br><br>

孝靖皇后王氏；光宗生母。宣府都司左卫人，原任锦衣卫百户赠明威将军指挥佥事王朝寀之女。生于嘉靖四十四年(公元1565年)正月二十七日，万历六年(公元1578年)二月初二选入皇宫，初为慈宁宫宫人，侍奉孝定皇太后。后被神宗私幸有孕，于万历十年六月册封为恭妃，同年八月生光宗朱常洛。万历三十四年四月进封为皇贵妃，万历三十九年九月病故，上谥"温肃端靖纯懿皇贵妃"。<br><br>

其坟园建于天寿山陵区东井左侧。光宗朱常洛万历四十八年八月初一即皇位，下诏追谥生母为皇太后，但其礼未行，他自己先于同年九月初一驾崩。熹宗朱由校即位，才为孝靖王氏上尊谥为"孝靖温懿敬让贞慈参天胤圣皇太后"，迁葬定陵，并补充了一些随葬品。<br><br>

帝王陵好像是被人为的破坏好几次吧，好多年前看到的一条报道。
